A-91 modification 7.62mm weapon attack machine

This assault machine gun-grenade launcher complex is derived from the A-91 7.62mm assault machine gun modification and rearranged according to the "bull pup" configuration (with magazine arrangement behind a control grip and elevation of the stock on the level of an axis's bore). The barrel length as well as the cartridge are similar to those of the AKM assault riffle, this length was optimized for the given cartridge. The primary thrust of developers of the KBP (Design Bureau) was directed for eliminating the traditional shortcomings of the "bull pup" configuration (which was commenced in its time in the city of Tula).    The fired cartridge case after its extraction from the breech is deflected by a special lever to the right along the face of the bolt and then thrown away forward by the ejector on the bolt carrier through the groove (port) located on the right side of the receiver. The receiver is securely closed, thereby eliminating such shortcoming of the "bull pup" as escaping of exhausted gasses near the face of a shooter and the possible danger of hitting his face with extracted bullets during the fire from the left shoulder. The dander of dust pollution is reduced when the fire is delivered from prone position.
The operating handle is fastened to the piston rod, located under the carrying handle and may be deflected to the right or to the left. The assault rifle is intended primarily for close combat with swift readying it for opening fire, swift aiming, and easy handling. The pistol grip and fore grip are integral with the plastic body, all this makes the weapon's handling more comfortable.
The curve-slide sight with a dioptric rear sight and regulated drum is mounted on the carrying handle.
The 40mm muzzle loaded grenade launcher integrated in the fore grip of the assault rifle. The mounting of the grenade launcher leads to the enhanced weapon's stability of the "bull pup" configuration during firing without the rest support. The weapon features two separate triggers intended for the assault rifle and the grenade launcher. The sight is mounted on the left side of the body. The rubber back-plate of the stock reduces recoil effect during delivering fire from the grenade launcher.
The modification of the A-91M weapon chambered for the 5.56x45 cartridge is intended for export. It is primarily noted for the barrel's design, rotating bolt and magazine (plastic body), however, there is also a number of other changes in parts and units, namely, in a gas piston-rod and curve-slide sight. The sighting range is up to 500 mm. The grenade launcher unit may be replaced by the unit of a conventional fore grip...
